The Jenkins Portrait Gallery
|
A stunning collection of portraits lines the hallways of the Jenkins Law Library.
These portraits depict early leaders of the Philadelphia bench and bar, as well as more recent members of the local legal community, including Jenkins "angels" like Judge John Marshall Gest, whose superb collection of Roman and Canon Law enhances our Rare Book Collection, and of course, Theodore and Madeleine Jenkins, through whose philanthropy the Jenkins Law Library was set up. Particularly noteworthy, from an artistic and historical perspective, are older portraits by such artists as Thomas Sully, Rembrandt Peale, Jacob Eicholtz, and John Neagle.
Here's a sampling of some of our gallery favorites.
