Palawlibrary Receives 2004 Best New Product Award |
|
In recognition of an innovative legal research product, palawlibrary.com was awarded the 2004 Best New Product Award from the American Association of Law Libraries. This award is the result of a law library working well with a major legal publisher. The major content provider, American Lawyer Media-PA, specializes in reporting the latest case law and news and Jenkins Law Library specializes in making the information accessible in a “clean and user friendly interface.” Law Librarians are managing and indexing the content so that the documents are preserved and full-text searchable. Other content providers include judges, law clerks, attorneys, county law librarians, court administrators and local bar associations. Palawlibrary provides easy and inexpensive access to judicial opinions, trial listings, court rules, legal news and other legal information for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This database has over 150,000 documents and new content is added daily. This award honors new legal information products that enhance or improve existing law library services or procedures or innovative products which improve access to legal information, the legal research process, or procedures for technical processing of library materials. A “new” product is one which, has been in the library-related marketplace for two years or less. New products may include, but are not limited to, computer hardware and/or software, educational or bibliographic material, or other products or devices that aid or improve library workflow, research, or intellectual access. The award will be presented during the 96th AALL Annual Meeting and Conference at the Association Luncheon July 12th in Boston. |

Lazy B |
By Sandra Day O'Connor, H. Alan DayThis memoir-cum-natural history evinces a clear picture of the American Southwest during the early to mid 20th century. Though O'Connor's name initially conjures images of austere black robes and the halls of justice, a very different person emerges from the childhood recalled here. A collaboration between O'Connor and her brother, the book recounts the lives of their parents “MO” and “DA” and the colorful characters who helped run the Lazy B ranch.
