Web Manager to Demo Jenkins’ Intranet

Nicole Engard, Web Manager, has been asked to demo the Jenkins' Intranet (recently featured in ONLINE Magazine) at the LVJ Summer Institutes.

The LVJ Summer Institutes is a collaboration of librarians from La Salle University, Villanova University, and Saint Joseph’s University, working cooperatively to provide a series of professional development programs. The Institute is presented in 3 parts. The presentation on Jenkins' Intranet will take place during part two at La Salle University on June 13th.

This up-to-date book contains everything you need to know to protect your loved ones, property, and finances.  It is organized to make it easy to find the information you want and is probably one of the most comprehensive estate-planning books available to mature adults.

The Enemy of My Enemy of My Enemy?

Or more strange bedfellows. Yesterday it was announced that Google and Dell reached a deal to pre-install Google Desktop and the Google Toolbar on new PCs. Also the home page for the browser will be a co-branded Dell/Google site.

Not to be outdone, Yahoo and eBay announced that they are partnering. Yahoo will be the “exclusive third-party provider” of ads throughout eBay’s site. Yahoo will also embrace eBay’s PayPal system for purchases on Yahoo. They’re also developing a co-branded — I’ve used that term twice already! — toolbar.

The alliances are now as follows: Google/AOL/Dell v. Yahoo/eBay v. Amazon/Microsoft.

Finding Free WiFi

Wishing you didn’t have to pay to access wireless while you’re out and about?

ilovefreewifi.com feels your pain and has compiled a list of places in Philadelphia (and other cities) where you can access WiFi networks for free.

You can also use your cell phone to find free WiFi hotspots. Just send your street address to [cityname]@ilovefreewifi.com and you’ll get back 2 text messages with the 6 closest free WiFi locations.

Also remember that visitors to the library have access to our free wireless service.

No more hunting around for free wireless hotspots!

By Harris Ominsky

Practical and current, Real Estate Lore is fully grounded in the practice of law, with citations and analysis of over 300 relevant cases, many of them decided in the last few years. It includes the author's insights into many hot topics, including the Kelo decision, the Trump World Tower case as a precedent for deposit forfeitures, the USA Patriot Act, and the effect on shopping centers of the 2005 Bankruptcy Code Amendments.

Yet More Google Traffic Figures

I’ve blogged about this before. Anyway, 95% of Google’s traffic comes from their top 3 services: Search leads with 80% (duh), followed by Images (9.5%) and Gmail (5.5%). Want more details?

Cleaning Up After the Swarm

A swarm of new product announcements today:

Google finally released Google Notebook, a software download that lets you clip text, images and links from sites and dump them into a (you guessed it!) notebook that you can access from anywhere.  Sorta like Yahoo My Web 2.0 Beta.  And more fancy than copy-paste into Notepad.

Speaking of Yahoo, they announced a preview of their redesigned homepage.  Still too cluttered for my taste.  I'll stick with their dedicated search page.

All the Web — remember them?! — now features Livesearch, which gives you search suggestions as you type.  I know, I know … Yahoo launched Instant Search previously and Google has Google Suggest.  So why should I care about Livesearch?  Yahoo Instant Search and Google Suggest just use alphabetical order.  Type in do and they suggest dog.  Livesearch is different.  Type in deliver and you get flower delivery, stand and deliver, etc.:
