Long-Term Care: How to Plan & Pay for It |
By Joseph MatthewsAll of us have to face the uncomfortable fact that, one day, we or our family members may need some kind of expensive long-term care. Most older people, even if they remain basically healthy, develop physical or mental frailties or impairments that at some point prevent them from living completely independent lives. This book can help you prepare for what the future might bring by presenting the alternatives you need to consider. Library Record Borrow it Buy it More Titles |

The Majesty of the Law: Reflections of a Supreme Court Justice |

Tracing some of the origins of American law through history, people, and ideas, O'Connor sheds new light on the basics, and through personal observation she explores the development of the institutions and ideas we have come to regard as fundamental. If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade |
|
Let’s say you’re Universal Tube & Rollform Equipment Corporation, in Perrysburg, OH. You want to have a Web site. What do you name it? Utube.com, naturally. It’s short and easy-to-remember. Works great, until some kids come up with like the most popular Web site on the planet and name it YouTube.com. Hordes of clueless Web surfers inadvertantly land on your site. It slows down. Your customers can’t get information. Sales suffer. What do you do then? Sue ‘em, of course. And what do you do while you’re waiting for justice to take its inevitable course? You monetize that unexpected traffic. You put links to advertising-driven sites (poker, ringtones, people, games, xtreme travel, dating, and more) at the top of your page. Who cares if it makes your corporate page look like a spam site? You’re making lemonade. For your viewing pleasure, compare the appearance of Utube.com before the YouTube madness (via Archive.org) and now. |

Donate to our Annual Fund |
|
As part of our Strategic Plan, we have launched our first annual fund raising campaign. While membership dues will account for 13% of our overall income this year, the revenue that they provide is less than what we pay in annual rental costs. We are asking for your support in order to continue providing your firm and others in the legal community with the high level of service that has become our trademark. Jenkins is recognized as one of the top practitioners’ law libraries in the country. It provides information and research that is relevant, current and available in a variety of formats. We consider your contribution to Jenkins' annual campaign an investment in our future and hope you will be generous. Those who donate more than $100 will be listed in our annual report which will be posted on our website. We will hold a recognition ceremony in February 2007 for those who donate $5,000 or more. The Theodore F. Jenkins Memorial Law Library Company is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Donations to Jenkins are tax-deductible. |

The King Is Dead, Long Live The King (At Least Until Next Month) |
|
Yahoo, which has been the world’s most popular site for, like, forever, has finally been ecliped by MySpace. In November, U.S. page views for MySpace totalled 39.5 million. Yahoo had 38 million. Yahoo still had more unique visitors than any other site. While this is not the end of the world for Yahoo, it has to add to the feeling of gloom pervading the #2 search engine. Their share of the search market is declining. They’ve publicly admitted they spread themselves too thin. And — unlike Google, who quickly snapped up YouTube — they can’t get the Facebook deal done. |

Did Bill Sign Off On This? |
|
Many of you have no doubt heard about Ms. Dewey, which features a hottie in a low-cut dress who tries to answer your search requests. The site is mind-numbingly slow. The concept is annoying and stupid. And it’s from Microsoft. Bad enough, but it turns out that the actress who plays Ms. Dewey starred in Cup of My Blood, a soft-core slasher movie. Even worse, that fact was just reported by Matt Cutts, who happens to work for the company that’s eating Microsoft’s lunch in search. Google. As Michael Richards (and Britney Spears and Paris Hilton and Mel Gibson and …) already know, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. |
