The economy’s tanked. January’s short, cold days loom ahead. Could it get any gloomier? Yup … Steve Jobs won’t be giving any more keynotes at Macworld. Not this year. Not ever. Hyperventilation ensued after the announcement by Apple on Tuesday. Is it because of Steve’s health? Is there a changing of the guard going on at Apple? Can we have a paper bag to breathe into? No, no, and no. Apple claims that they simply don’t need trade shows any more: “Apple is reaching more people in more ways than ever before, so like many companies, trade shows have become a very minor part of how Apple reaches its customers. The increasing popularity of Apple’s Retail Stores, which more than 3.5 million people visit every week, and the Apple.com website enable Apple to directly reach more than a hundred million customers around the world in innovative new ways.” At least we have the memories … |
