For example, the asterisk (*) can be used as a placeholder in quotations (which require quotation marks, e.g. " "). Boolean NOT is the minus sign (-). Type a tilde (~) before your term to include synonyms. Include an elipsis (..) for number ranges. Finally, mathematical symbols such as $ and % can be used in queries for Google's calculator/converter.
