MyJAC Preferred Searches
Jenkins members can now stay informed about new materials added to the Library collection by:
  • Visiting the New Acquisitions Plus to view lists of recently added library materials or
  • Using the MyJAC search mode, available from your circulation record, save your customized catalog searches to re-execute whenever you choose and/or request a weekly email alert on new materials added to the Jenkins collection that fall within your specified criteria.

Follow the instructions below to setup these services.


MyJAC Search

  • Login to MyJAC
  • The message, "You are logged into MyJAC at Jenkins Law Library as: YOUR NAME", will be displayed at the top of every screen while you are logged in (except when you access help screens).
  • Click the "Search JAC Plus" button to search JAC in "MyJAC Search" mode.
  • Enter your search query and begin searching the catalog.
  • To stop searching the catalog in "MyJAC Search" mode, you can either:
    Click on the "My Info" button, which returns you to your circulation record or you can just click the "Logout" button.

Note of Caution:
If you are using a shared PC, protect the confidentiality of your circulation record by either clicking on the LOGOUT button OR closing your browser window when you have finished searching the catalog.

Save Searches

While you are searching JAC Plus in "MyJAC Search" mode, you may save up to 20 Preferred Searches to a special file associated with your circulation record. You can also sign up for "New for You" alerts. When the Library acquires items that match your search criteria we will notify you via email.

To add records to your Preferred Searches, just click the "Save as Preferred Search" button that appears next to your search box on the results page.

To view your list of preferred searches, just click the "My Info" button and then the "Preferred Searches" button.

Viewing and Updating Your Preferred Searches

While logged into MyJAC, click on Preferred Searches to view the list of your saved searches.

To remove a search from your list, put a check in "Mark for Remove", then click on the "Update List" button.

Click on "Remove All" to delete all preferred searches.

Requesting an Email Alert

Associated with the Saved Searches feature, is the ability to receive email messages whenever the library catalogs items that match the search criteria in your preferred searches. This feature is available for all saved searches EXCEPT Keyword(s) searches.

Display the list of your preferred searches, then place a in the "Mark for Email" column next to the searches you want to generate an alert, and click the "Update List" button.

Below are some sample searches that might make useful email alerts:

Title search for "PBI" Generates a list of new PBI's received by Jenkins.

Call Number search for "KFP"

Generates a list of all newly cataloged books for our Pennsylvania collection.

Subject search for "Audio recordings"

Generates a list of newly cataloged audiocassettes.

Subject search for "leisure reading"

Generates a list of newly cataloged leisure reading materials.

Every Monday morning the system will search the database to find items that have been cataloged during the past week that match your saved criteria.

Provided that you have an email address listed in your circulation record, an email will be sent to you listing any new items that matched your search criteria; e.g. Title or Series = PBI. If you circulation record is missing an email address, please contact our Membership Department at 215.574.7968 to have your record updated. See a sample email alert before you subscribe.
