1. Convert an Act Number to a House or Senate Bill Number.
   Translating the act number into a house or senate bill number allows access to the HISTORY of the bill arranged numerically by bill number in the front section of the appropriate history volume.
   • 1983 to the Present-refer to the Q pages in the History of House Bills or History of Senate Bills.
   • 1969 to 1982 - refer to the T pages in the Final House History or Final Senate History volumes (sometimes entitled History of House Bills or History of Senate Bills)
   • Prior to 1969 - look in the table of contents for the chart entitled "Act Numbers of Bills Approved" or "Act Numbers of Bills on General Legislation Approved by the Governor". In addition, both the indexes to the House and Senate Journals should be consulted by subject and bill number.

2. Locate Discussion of the Bill in the Legislative Journal.
   Refer to the referenced journal pages for floor debate.
   • 1965 to the Present-look in the History volumes for "(Remarks see House Journal Page...)", "(Remarks see Senate Journal Page...)", "(Remarks...)" or "(Debate...)".
   • Prior to 1965-look in the index to the House Journals and the Index to the Senate Journals by subject and bill number for "Remarks on, by...".
