Match All: To narrow your search choose 'Match All'.

Example: jenkins law
Will find pages that include both the word 'jenkins' and the word 'law'.

Match Any: To broaden your search choose 'Match Any'.

Example: jenkins law
Will find pages that include either the word 'jenkins' or the word 'law'.

Case Sensitivity: Searches are case insensitive.

Example: "law"
Will match "law" as well as "Law" and "LAW".

Exact Phrase: To find an exact phrase, put the phrase in quotes.

Example: "legal directories"
Finds pages containing the phrase "legal directories", but not just "legal" or "directories".

Inclusion: To make sure that specific words are always included put a plus sign (+) in front of them.

Example: +"legislative histories" +Pennsylvania
Finds "Pennsylvania legislative histories".

Exclusion: To exclude a word, simply put a minus sign (-) in front of it.

Example: court -briefs
Finds "court records", but not "court briefs".

Wildcard / Truncation: To find all variations on the same word you can use * at the end of the search term.

Example: statut*
Finds statute, statutes and statutory.

Text Search: To find pages that contain specific text, type text:text.

Example: text:workshop
Finds pages with text on workshops.

Title Search: To find pages with a specific word or phrase in the title, type title:text.

Example: title:portrait
Finds "Jenkins Portrait Gallery".

Link Search: To find a specific link on a page, type link:address.

Example: link:google.com
Finds all of the pages linking to www.google.com.

Highlighted Results: Click on this link on the results page to see every occurrence of your search term(s) highlighted in yellow.

Example: patents
On the highlighted version of the page, 'patents' will be surrounded by yellow.
