Jenkins Catalog Processing Center
The Jenkins Processing Center staff can catalog your library's collection using OCLC, the Online Computer Library Center. We customize our services to meet the individual needs of your library's online or card catalog. Since 1987, we have cataloged over 61,000 titles for many law libraries in the area. At the present time, we are serving many clients.

What can we do for you?

Listed below are some of the services we offer:

  • Catalog all types of library materials - books, periodicals, videos, microforms, subscription databases, integrated resources, Internet resources, etc. in USMARC II format
  • Use OCLC system to locate authoritative bibliographic records
  • Customize bibliographic records that work in your environment
  • Perform original cataloging including authority control by an experienced Catalog Librarian
  • Update OCLC holdings
  • Provide electronic records that can be uploaded to your online catalog
  • Produce catalog cards and shelflists
  • Print spine and pocket labels according to your specifications
  • Maintain a shelflist of your library holdings
  • Delete library holdings from OCLC for items no longer held in your library
  • Provide MARC records for updating your local library system
  • Perform Reclassification Projects
  • Perform Retrospective Conversion Projects
  • Provide Technical Support for all your cataloging needs

Why do you need this service?

Using the Catalog Processing Center is both time and cost effective for law libraries. Cataloging a collection is a chore that is often last on the list for most librarians. After all, giving immediate service to those with reference questions is the most important service your library offers. If you use the processing center, you will not need to hire a cataloger. This saves money in terms of salaries and benefits. The most important advantage of using the center is that you will have a machine-readable record of your holdings. You will need this later on to produce an online catalog which could be easily updated by data sent to you on a disk or as an email file, with all your current cataloging performed by our processing center.

Finally, you will be participating in a project that will produce a shared catalog - WorldCat for processing center clients. Think of all of the telephone calls you will eliminate when searching for materials from other libraries.

Also, as a member of the Processing Center you'll be entitled to the member discounts toward a variety of workshops offered by LYRASIS.

For additional information about this service and rates, please call the Library Systems Manager at 215.574.7907.
