Jenkins On Your Desktop: The Congressional Record on ProQuest Congressional
Each year Congress marks the unofficial start of summer by remembering and honoring America's fallen soldiers with statements recorded in the Congressional Record. These statements range from broad thanks to our nation's service men and women to personal stories about fallen soldiers.
To access the Congressional Record on ProQuest Congressional, use your last name and member number to log into Jenkins' website. From either the Member Center or the list of Member Databases, select ProQuest Congressional. Once in ProQuest, select "Advanced Search" from the left "Search Types" menu. Enter the phrase "Memorial Day", in quotes, in the search box. Limit the search to just the Congressional Record Daily Edition 1985-Present. The search can also be limited by edition, date, or Congressional Session.
Search results can also be limited after the search has been performed. From the search results list, use the facets on the right side of the screen to filter the results by date and/or narrow the results to either the House or the Senate.
To limit the results by a particular member of Congress or by a service man or woman mentioned, from the search results list type the last name of the Senator, Representative, or service man or woman into the search box and check the "Search within results" box.
ProQuest Congressional is a membership database available to all Jenkins members.
