Restatement of Trusts

Trusts

"A trust . . . is most frequently a method of disposing of property and of enabling the transferor to provide flexibly for varied purposes and for a number of beneficiaries, often in sequence over time and often including persons yet to be born." Series Information

Volumes 1-2 of the third series of Trusts were published in 2003. Volume 3 was published in 2007, and volume 4 was published in 2012. The appendix and supplement to the third series includes case citations from July 1986 to present for the first, second, and third series.

The third series of Trusts: Prudent Investor Rule was published in 1992 as a partial revision of the second series (see Introduction to Restatement (Second) of Trusts, Appendix §§ 197 to End, at v (Supp. 2011)). In 2007 the Prudent Investor Rule was incorporated into volume 3 of the third series. Case citations for Trusts: Prudent Investor Rule can be found in the volume labeled "Trusts 2d Appendix §§ 197 to End".

The second series of Trusts was published in 1959. The appendices and supplements to the second series include case citations up to June 2010 for the first and second series. Case citations from July 1986 to present can be found in the appendix and supplement to the third series. Supplement to the volume labeled "Trusts 2d Appendix §§ 197 to End" also includes all case citations to Trusts (Third): Prudent Investor Rule.

The first series of Trusts was published in 1935. Case citations for the first series up to June 2010 can be found in the appendices and supplements to the second series. Case citations from July 1986 to present can be found in the appendix and supplement to the third series.
