Jenkins' Research Tip: Archived Versions of Pennsylvania Statutes

Ever need to see what a particular section of Purdon's Pennsylvania Statutes Annotated looked like at a specific time? Jenkins has print versions of the statutes going back to 1930.  We also have pocket parts from 1969 forward.

The library's WestlawNext and Lexis computers include archived versions of the statutes as well.  WestlawNext has versions of Pennsylvania Statutes Annotated from 1988 forward and Lexis has Pennsylvania Statutes, Annotated by LexisNexis from 1991 forward.

  • WestlawNext:  From the All Content tab, select Statutes & Court Rules>Pennsylvania.  See the Tips & Resources box on the right for Pennsylvania Statutes Annotated - Historical.  Select year of interest.
    • Example:  To pull back 42 PACSA 102 from template in WestlawNext, type 102 in the citation field and select Search.  From the results, filter by Statute Title on the left.
  • Lexis:  From the Legal tab, select States Legal - U.S.>Pennsylvania>Find Statutes, Regulations, Administrative Materials & Court Rules>By Statutes & Regulations>Legislative Archive.  Select year of interest.
    • Example:  To pull back 42 PACS 102 from Lexis, type cite(42 +5 102) in the Terms & Connectors search box.
