West Academic Digital Library Recently Added to the Jenkins' Member Databases

  •

Jenkins is excited to add the West Academic Digital Library to our collection of databases. This Digital Library provides access to a multitude of West Academic titles, including the Nutshell, Hornbook, and Concise Hornbook series. These titles are great guides for getting started in a particular area of law, and all are available on your desktop with your Jenkins' membership.

West Academic calls the Nutshell Series “an excellent reference” to “expand your practice into a related field of law, introduce your practice to a new field, get a quick refresher on a subject you studied or practiced long ago, and help new associates, summer associates, paralegals, or anyone on your legal team get educated in unfamiliar areas of the law.” Nutshell topics include "new, developing legal topics such as the Internet, climate change, bioethics, gaming, and international human rights" as well as "more traditional topics like the basics of damages, remedies, property, and more." There are over 160 Nutshell titles on the West Academic Digital Library, including Adoption and Foster Care in a Nutshell, Global Internet Law in a Nutshell, Legal Citation in a Nutshell, Marijuana Law in a Nutshell, Uniform Commercial Code in a Nutshell, and many more.

Hornbooks "explain the law in great depth and offer insights into a law's historical development, as well as its contemporary issues and future development. By citing landmark cases, statutes and articles, they make excellent reference guides and are a great starting point for legal research." The more than 40 Hornbooks on the West Academic Digital Library include many practitioner favorites, such as Administrative Law by Aman and Mayton, Contracts by Perillo, Criminal Law by LaFave, Hornbook on Torts by Dobbs et al., and The Law of Securities Regulation by Hazen.

West Academic's Concise Hornbook Series offers "concise analyses of fundamental areas of the law by prominent legal scholars. Each text is lightly footnoted and focuses on the core principles and concepts fundamental to understanding the subject matter." There are over 40 of these titles on the West Academic Digital Library. They provide comprehensive coverage on a variety of legal topics, including Principles of Antitrust by Hovenkamp, Principles of Copyright Law by Schechter and Thomas, Principles of Environmental Law by Johnston and Powers, Principles of Legal Research by Olson, and Principles of Wills, Trusts, and Estates by McGovern et al.

The West Academic Digital Library offers both browse and search options. Additionally, search results can be filtered by subject and series type. See their Search Tips for additional information.
