On Wednesday, the U.S. House Judiciary Antitrust Subcommittee will hold an antitrust hearing with the CEOs of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google. The hearing was originally scheduled for 7/27, but was rescheduled for the observance of Rep. John Lewis’ funeral (The Verge). The four tech giants are appearing in response to the Subcommittee’s ongoing antitrust investigation of online platforms and their market power. Antitrust: An Economic Approach by Richard A. Givens covers the dynamic of antitrust principles and how they can influence the economy. The title is divided into five parts: Foundations of Antitrust Law, Market Power, Restraints of Trade, Antitrust Immunities and Exemptions, and Enforcement and Defense.
