NewsBank, available to all Jenkins members, includes more than 11,000 news sources from across the globe. Locally this includes The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, South Jersey Times, and The Trenton Times. Papers from English-speaking parts of the world include Irish Times, London Daily Mail, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Toronto Star. NewsBank's global coverage also includes Brazil's O Globo, Ethiopia's Capital, France's Le Monde diplomatique, India's The Times of India, Israel's The Jerusalem Post, Mexico's Reforma, and Singapore's The Straits Times.

To help users navigate current news stories, NewsBank offers search strings and curated lists in their Hot Topics and Special Reports sections. Both of these are accessible from the "Quick Links" on the right side of the NewsBank homepage:

The Hot Topics section highlights recent news and events and provides sample search strings to research these issues. Hot Topics are updated each month and users can select prior months from the drop down menu.

Subject areas include Current Events; Business & Economics; Civics, Government & Politics; Social Issues; Science, Technology & Health; Sports; Arts & Literature; and People in the News.

Each subject area contains selected topics with a sample search string to help with your research. For example, the top story in Current Events is "Russia’s Invasion of the Ukraine" and it provides the sample search string (Russia OR Ukraine) AND (troops or invasion or fighting).

Special Reports are "current and retrospective news articles and images organized to easily examine key global issues & events, people and important monthly themes". Current featured reports include the Russia-Ukraine Crisis, Women's History Month, National Nutrition Month, the Winter 2022 Paralympic Games, and Film and TV Awards.

Clicking a report will bring up a curated collection of articles on that topic organized by subtopic. For example, the report for Women's History Month is further organized by "Today's News and Newsmakers", "Women's History", "Government and Politics", "Social Justice and Legal Issues", "Economics", "Health, Science, and Education", "The Arts and Culture", "Athletics", "Unique Stories of Individual Women", and "Women's Rights Movement". Each subtopic has a selection of five linked articles with the option to select "More".
