West Academic Digital Library: An Overview

West Academic Digital Library is a valuable resource available remotely to members of Jenkins Law Library. This digital library provides access to a multitude of West Academic titles, including the Nutshell, Hornbook, and Concise Hornbook series. Nutshells and Hornbooks make great reference guides, as they cite landmark cases, statutes, and articles. These titles are perfect when getting started in a particular area of law, especially since they can be accessed remotely.

West Academic calls the Nutshell Series “an excellent reference” to “expand your practice into a related field of law, introduce your practice to a new field, get a quick refresher on a subject you studied or practiced long ago, and help new associates, summer associates, paralegals, or anyone on your legal team get educated in unfamiliar areas of the law.” There are over 190 Nutshell titles in the West Academic Digital Library, including:

• Administrative Law and Process in a Nutshell
• Artificial Intelligence Law and Regulation in a Nutshell
• Children and the Law in a Nutshell
• Constitutional Law in a Nutshell
• Immigration Law and Procedure in a Nutshell

Hornbooks "explain the law in great depth and offer insights into a law's historical development, as well as its contemporary issues and future development. By citing landmark cases, statutes and articles, they make excellent reference guides and are a great starting point for legal research." The nearly 60 Hornbooks in the West Academic Digital Library include many practitioner favorites, such as:

• Hornbook on Torts by Dobbs et al.

West Academic's Concise Hornbook Series offers "concise analyses of fundamental areas of the law by prominent legal scholars. Each text is lightly footnoted and focuses on the core principles and concepts fundamental to understanding the subject matter." There are 55 of these titles in the West Academic Digital Library. They provide comprehensive coverage on a variety of legal topics, including:
