New Election Law Program (ELP) Platform!

  •

Happy new year everyone!

In light of the new year, we would like to share a new resource we’ve come across called the Election Law Navigator. This platform helps judges resolve disputes and strengthens public confidence in the electoral process.

According to their website, this project was developed by the Election Law Program (ELP), which is a joint project of the National Center for State Courts and William & Mary Law School for State Courts. The ELP formulated the Election Law Navigator project to “alleviate concerns accompanying the contemporary surge in election litigation”. This comprehensive, freely accessible, and nonpartisan online resource was created for judges, legal professionals, and members of the public seeking to better understand the intersection of the law and elections.

The navigator simplifies legal research by classifying more than 30,000 election-related statutes, regulations, advisory opinions, and related materials from all 50 states. Users can search election-related materials by keyword or topic, explore more than 100 election-specific topic tags (such as absentee voting, ballot access, recounts, and voter registration), and can also compare similar legal documents across states side by side.

The platform is powered by a human-verified artificial intelligence system, meaning election law experts review and refine AI-organized results for accuracy.

If you’d like to learn more about the tool, take a look at this informative video available in the help section on the Election Navigator website.
