New Database: The American Bench
Jenkins Law Library has recently secured digital and print access to The American Bench, a definitive biographical reference on America’s judiciary. This resource provides biographical information for more than 20,000 judges in various levels of federal, state, and local courts, as well as contact information for both federal and state court officials' offices (Forster-Long).
In addition to in-depth biographical information, The American Bench provides an annual Gender Diversity Survey, court profiles, and federal and state judicial boundary maps. The gender diversity study helps to illustrate the distribution of male and female judges, including yearly changes divided by level of jurisdiction.
This is an invaluable resource for keeping current with important changes in America’s judicial system. If you’re appearing before a judge or need to research the American judiciary, this resource provides reliable information directly from federal and state court administrators.
This database is available remotely to all library members.
