USPTO Patent Public Search

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has released Patent Public Search (PPUBS), a web-based patent search online platform for an enhanced patent research process. PPUBs has replaced legacy search tools PatFT and AppFT, but also offers similar functionality that was previously available through PatFT and AppFT in terms of basic searching for those who are newer to patent searches, and advanced searching for seasoned searchers.

The basic search interface lets you conduct searches using the following data: applicant name, assignee name, attorney agent/firm, attorney name, patent/application publication number, inventor name, publication date ranges, keywords. The advanced search interface allows you to use a query box for more complex searching, customize your workspace, and select which specific database(s) to search on. Users can also conduct field-specific queries or use proximity operators for full-text searching.
