Finding LGBT Resources at Jenkins

This month is the 1 year anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges (135 S.Ct. 2584), the U.S. Supreme Court decision that declared that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples just as it is guaranteed to opposite-sex couples. LGBT law encompasses more than marriage equality. It can cover the gamut of legal practice, including criminal law, estate law, family law, immigration, labor and employment law, real estate, and more.

Jenkins has a variety of materials on LGBT law. Some titles are LGBT specific, and some titles may include LGBT specific chapters. Titles include: The Changing Landscape: Issues Beyond Marriage for the GLBT Pennsylvanian (PBI), Estate Planning for Same-Sex Couples (ABA), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Family Law (West), Out and About: The LGBT Experience in the Legal Profession (ABA), Transgender Persons and the Law (ABA), and Your Employee's "New" Family: Employee Benefits, Including Family leave, Health, Retirement, Taxes and Visas (PBI).

Other, non-LGBT specific resources may also include helpful information. Our Pennsylvania Family Law, Pennsylvania Real Estate & Landlord Tenant Law, and Pennsylvania Wills, Trusts, and Estates resource guides may be good places to start. For help finding additional resources, contact our Reference Librarians at 215.574.1505, email us at research@jenkinslaw.org, or chat with us.
