Jenkins' Reopening Plan [Updated July 2]

UPDATE: We are still preparing the library for reopening. Plexiglass barriers and various other items have been ordered to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff. At this point we are hoping to reopen towards the end of July. As stated below, our librarians are available to assist with your research needs and print materials are available to borrow.

Philadelphia has moved into the Yellow Zone for businesses to reopen, so we are now implementing our reopening plan.

Our reference librarians will continue to work remotely. They will continue to assist you with your research needs in the same manner as they have done during the past few months. Beginning Monday, June 8, their remote coverage hours will expand to 8:30 am to 6:00 pm.

A staff member will be available on-site to fulfill requests that require the use of our print resources or any other resources that can only be found in our onsite collection. (Delivery option details below.) In addition, members of our technical services team will also return to the library on June 8 to begin processing and updating the numerous resources we received during the time we were closed.

The fulfillment of Jenkins’ mission of service to our members and the public is our top priority. As you can imagine, the preparation needed to reopen the library to visitors is much more daunting. There are many factors we need to take into consideration to keep everyone safe. Because of this, we do not plan on reopening to visitors until early July. With that being said, we do expect to be able to loan our materials using our delivery service or a walk-by option where we meet you or someone from your firm outside our building with the item(s). This will avoid the need to comply with our building’s entrance requirements during this time. We will have the same options available for you to return materials to the library.

No overdue fines will be accrued for books that were borrowed before the library shutdown through the time when we are prepared to receive these books back. Once a return book procedure is in place, we will announce the details, including the new due dates.

We're looking forward to seeing you soon!
